The DCE, Hon. Godwin Dadzawa further said that, the national celebration this year was being held at Cape coast in the Central Region of Ghana where His Excellency the President would be addressing the nation. The DCE, Hon. Dadzawa said last year it was an exception due to the ravaging spread of the second wave of COVID-19. He said he was indeed glad and thankful to God that we are able to mark this day as we usually do.
The DCE said the theme ” Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” resonates with the times and Seasons we find ourselves as a nation and was very apt, appropriate and timely.
He further said working together meant departing from our Parochial ideas, views and interests and pursue what would benefit the larger Society and the need to desist from extremism and forge greater collaboration for possible convergence. Hon. DCE said Ghana abounds in both natural and human resources and if harnessed and used effectively and efficiently with a common Purpose in mind, there is no height they cannot achieve as a nation.
The DCE said working together must not be seen as action to be taken only at the national level rather, must in fact begin from the family, Society and constituency levels. He said it is the cumulative effect of our working together at the lower levels that would reflect at the national level. The DCE said it therefore behoves us as a people to work together as Politicians, Religious Bodies, Civil Society Organizations and ordinary citizens with this right attitude.
The DCE used the opportunity to remind the school children that, they are the future leaders, however, the road to this role is through hard work ,discipline, humility, determination and perseverance.
In conclusion, the DCE parted the shoulders of the security agencies for their efforts at ensuring a colorful ceremony as well as the school children, the cadet Corps, the Traditional Leaders and the general public for their support over the years and particularly availing themselves of the program. The DCE noted that the Independence Day celebration would be rotated in the District from community to community, therefore next year’s celebration will take place at Peki-Dzake.
The celebration was graced with musical interlude and cultural performance from Tongor Tsanakpe Cultural Group as well as a vibrant and patriotic match past by contingents of various schools and some worker groups.
