ADMINISTRATIVE DATA TRAINING WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY THE GHANA STATISTICAL SERVICE AT THE SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HALL

A two day training Workshop was held on Administrative Data Validation for selected participants officers in the distict , under the aegis of Ghana Statistical Service took off successfully on Friday 11th to Saturday 12th October 2024 at the South Dayi District Assembly hall , Kpeve.

The training aimed to equip participants with practical abilities in collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting administrative data. It underscored the importance of accurate data for evidence-based decision-making and emphasized applications in various sectors. Quality assurance and collaboration among officers were key components.
The initiative, supported by GSS Representative at the South Dayi District level Mr. Michael Attara, is expected to foster data-driven development in the district.
 
Participating officers were the following: the District Coordinating Director,the Development Planning Officer, the Budget Analyst, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service (MIS Officer), Department of Agriculture(MIS Officer), the District Environmental Health Analyst (DEHA), the Social Welfare Officer, Ghana Enterprise Agency (formally the Business Advisory Centre), Ghana Water Company, ; Electricity Company of Ghana and Officer from the Statistics Department, . In all 14 participants attended the workshop for the 2 days.
 
The two (2) facilitators that took participants through the training were Mr. Louis Toboh , Regional Statistician and Mr. Michael Ayete ( HQ-GSS ).
 
The two day Sessions took participants through:
– Overview of Administrative Data: Types of data sources, including government databases and public records.
-Data Quality Assurance: Methods for ensuring the reliability and validity of data.
-Statistical Analysis Techniques: Introduction to various analytical methods and software tools.
-Case Studies: Presentations on successful applications of administrative data in various sectors.
-Practical Exercises: Participants engaged in hands-on activities to analyze sample datasets and apply learned techniques.
-Discussion Panels: Opportunities for participants to discuss challenges and share experiences related to administrative data usage
 
The training was highly informative and practical while Participants provided positive feedback regarding the workshop’s structure and content. Many expressed a desire for further training sessions and resources to support their work with administrative data
