IOLG organized orientation workshop for Assembly Members

A two day orientation for the newly elected Assembly members and Government Appointees in the South Dayi District, under the aegis of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Institute of Local Government Studies took off successfully on Thursday 26th to Friday 27th September 2024 at the South Dayi District Assembly hall , Kpeve.
The workshop is meant to introduce participants’ to their core functions and responsibilities to ensure an effective and efficient administration of the Assembly.
 
The District Chief Executive for South Dayi District, Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa in his welcome address indicated that for the Local Government System to improve there was the need for all hands to be on deck rather than the advancement of individual parochial interest.
 
He commended the ILGS for organizing the workshop and urged the trainees to show seriousness in acquiring knowledge that would benefit the entire people of the district.
Mr. Kwabena Bonfer aka Kabila, of ILGS, who was the main facilitator for the workshop, charged the members to perform their task devoid of any selfish and partisan interest.
He urged them to avail themselves to acquire knowledge and skills that would benefit the Assembly and enhance the decentralization system.
 
Mr. Bonfer asked them to develop positives work attitude and work as a team to accelerate the overall development of the Assembly.
Some of the topics treated on during the workshop included: decentralization policy, Local Governance System, the Assembly as a system, roles and responsibilities of Assembly Members, Local Government and Administrative laws, the Model Standing Orders, Local Revenue Mobilization, LED and Job Creation.
 
The facilitator urged the Assembly members to give full meaning to the training received by applying the knowledge acquired in the discharge of their functions to ensure the progress of the district.
The workshop was coordinated by a staff of the ILGS, Ms Gloria Annn, Mr. Stanley Bansah Deputy Director I, who stood in for the DCD.
 
The training was organized successfully with all questions answered.
