SUPPORT TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES 13TH TRANCHE

The Government of Ghana through the District Assembly has allocated 3% of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) TO Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The main aims of the DACF to PWDs are the following:

• Minimization of poverty among all PWDs particularly those outside the formal sector of employment.
• The enhancement of their social image through dignified labor.

In order to fulfill the above stated aims, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and the Disability Fund Management Committee (DFMC) selected eleven (11) PWDs who benefitted from the funds

Hon. DCE, DFMC members and some departmental heads present at the disbursement of items to 13^th tranche PWDs beneficiaries.

12. CHALLENGES

• Lack of available vehicle to transport officers during field/community engagement exercises.
• Lack of Office Space, Chairs and Table for officers.

13. WAY FORWAD

• Vehicle should be made available to the Department to carry out its mandated duties.
• An extra furnished office should be provided for the Department to make newly posted staff stay at post.
• Partnering with Other Departments and Units such as the N.C.C.E, the Information Services Department (ISD), Ghana Health Service, and Ghana Police Service in the delivery of Service.
