The South Dayi District Assembly (SDDA) had its first meeting on sectoral and inter-service coordination and cooperation on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), Section 81, requires the Departments of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to work together and cooperatively with State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Public Corporations, and Non-Decentralized Departments that operate within the district.
In light of this, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Jonh Kennedy Cobber, greeted everyone warmly and conveyed his appreciation for coming.
The District Planning Officer Mr. Sylvanus Tettey presented slides which projects the various activities to be undertaken by each sector and the need for the various heads to always strategies coordinating approach in the management of the District.
Significant attention was given to the agriculture activities especially on empowering farmers especially women and youth in the district.
The Department of Education outlined their activities including the improved performance of the BECE candidates for 2023 academic year from 52% to 70%. A call was made to the Assembly to help improve the accommodation of teachers in the district especially Adjei Bui.
The Department of Social Welfare presented their efforts in women empowerment, community care, child rights protection.
The Health Directorate provided an overview of various programs and routine services, including immunization, wellness clinic, tuberculosis awareness, scheduled health screening for diabetes, hypertension, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B , measles rubella and vitamin campaign and the need to improve the district health emergency preparedness plan.
The NHIS highlighted their achievements in membership registration, revenue mobilization and claims paid during the half year.
The meeting also addressed other pertinent issues from other department such as NADMO, Fire Service, Ambulance Service and the general security of the district.
In conclusion, the meeting concluded with a call to achieve collaboration and co-operation through networking communication, co-ordination of functions and resources.
