District Education Oversight Committee (DEOC) Meeting Held to Address Key Educational Issues

On Thursday 24th April 2026 the District Education Oversight Committee (DEOC) convened to deliberate on critical issues affecting education in our district . The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive, District Education Director, Assembly Members, Headteachers, and representatives of community groups and religious bodies.
Key issues discussed included:
1. Basic Schools Quiz Competition: Outcomes of the recent quiz competition organized by the Directorate for basic schools.
2. Examination Performance: Review of current examination outcomes and performance trends.
3. SPAM Implementation: Progress on the implementation of School Performance Appraisal Meetings (SPAM) across the district.
4. Supervision & Monitoring: Measures to strengthen supervision and monitoring of educational activities.
The Chairman, Hon. Courage Kokroko emphasized the urgent need to improve performance in both the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). He pledged the Assembly’s continued support to the Directorate to enhance BECE and WASSCE results in subsequent years.
The District Education Director, Mr. Prosper Yevu, expressed appreciation to the DCE for the moral and financial support extended to his team during last year sporting activities
The Assembly commends the dedication of all stakeholders who continue to contribute to shaping a brighter future for our children. Together, we can ensure quality education for every learner in the municipality.
