DISBURSEMENT OF NKOKO NKITINKITI (KOKLOVIWO)

On Thursday, 28th May 2026, the disbursement of 10,000 poultry birds under the _Nkoko Nkitinkiti_ (Kokloviwo) program was successfully carried out in the South Dayi District.
The exercise followed the official launch of the program by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.
The disbursement took place at the Agriculture Department in Kpeve, the district capital of South Dayi. Beneficiaries comprising men and women were selected by the Agriculture Directorate, headed by District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Nusianu Avedzida.
A symbolic presentation was made by the District Chief Executive for South Dayi District, Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko.
Before the presentation, Hon. Kokroko explained the origin and purpose of the _Nkoko Nkitinkiti_ (Kokloviwo) project and outlined proper care practices for the birds.
As the President’s representative in South Dayi District, Hon. Kokroko welcomed the gathering and conveyed greetings from President John Dramani Mahama, MP and Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Kwami Etse Dafeamekpor Esq., and Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu.
Speaking on the program, Hon. Kokroko said:
_“The Nkoko Nkitinkiti program is a major Ghanaian government agricultural initiative introduced by the NDC government led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama. It aims to revitalize the local poultry industry, boost food sovereignty, and reduce the country’s heavy reliance on imported chicken._
_It also forms part of the Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA)._
_The primary objective is to reduce the roughly $400 million Ghana spends annually on foreign poultry imports by scaling up local production to meet domestic demand._

_Under the Household Poultry Initiative, thousands of day old chicks are being distributed directly to households which is why you are gathered here today. The birds will be given to you, and it is your responsibility to take good care of them. These are not free range birds, they should be caged and fed properly to serve their purpose. Technical guidance will be provided to ensure high survival rates and maximum benefit. Do not hesitate to contact the poultry experts at the Agriculture Directorate._
_A monitoring team will conduct follow up visits to check on the survival and progress of the birds._
_If you manage them well, there will be further opportunities in the coming phases._
_I will respectfully suggest to MP Dafeamekpor that if you take good care of the birds and sustain the poultry farming, he should consider supporting you with more birds.”_
Hon. Kokroko also commended the District Director of Agriculture, Mr. Nusianu Avedzida, and his team for their dedication and technical guidance in ensuring the birds were of high quality and well cared for. He recommended them to the public for their excellent service.

Mr. Nusianu Avedzida welcomed the beneficiaries and advised that the _Nkoko Nkitinkiti_ (Kokloviwo) project, under the NDC government led by President Mahama, is a key measure to alleviate poverty. He urged beneficiaries to seek support from the Agriculture Directorate to sustain the birds and fulfill the program’s objectives.
He also praised MP Rockson-Nelson Kwami Etse Dafeamekpor Esq. and DCE Hon. Courage Kokroko for their consistent support to the Agriculture Directorate.

The beneficiaries, traditional authorities, heads of departments, recognized poultry farmers, clergy, and other attendees expressed excitement about the _Nkoko Nkitinkiti_ program. They offered prayers for good health and strength for President John Dramani Mahama, MP Rockson-Nelson Kwami Etse Dafeamekpor Esq., and DCE Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko. 🙏
