DISBURSEMENT OF THE 85TH AND 86TH LEAP PAYMENT CYCLE TO BENEFICIARIES
The Government of Ghana, since Monday 4th September 2023, has commenced the disbursement of social subsidies to eligible households across the nation through the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme under the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection (MoGCSP).
The exercise, which represents the payments of both the 85th and 86th Cycles of LEAP Cash Grant, is set to benefit over in the district.
As part of the district wide payment the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (SWCD) Officer Mrs. Emma Adom, Assistant SWCD Officer Mr. Sylvester Kubi and the WETO Rural Bank conducted a field visit to all the 23 electoral areas within the district.
The primary objective during the visit was to oversee and evaluate the disbursement of LEAP cash grants to beneficiaries in the district.
The District SWCD , Mrs Emma Adom during her visit to designated payment centers encouraged recipients to consider investing the received funds in profitable and sustainable ventures, with the view to enhancing their livelihoods.
Due to the combined payment, households with one eligible member will received Two Hundred and Fifty-Six Ghana Cedis (GH₵256.00), while those with two eligible members received Three Hundred and Four Ghana Cedis (GH₵304.00). Three-member households received Three Hundred and Fifty-Two Ghana Cedis (GH₵352.00), while households with four or more eligible members received Four Hundred and Twenty-Four Ghana Cedis (GH₵424.00).
LEAP, a social cash transfer program aimed at supporting Ghana’s most impoverished households, focuses on poverty alleviation by promoting human capital development and smoothing consumption.
The disbursement amount to each household is determined by the number of eligible members it comprises. Households qualify for LEAP if they include orphaned and vulnerable children, elderly individuals aged 65 and above without support, persons with severe disabilities preventing them from working, and pregnant women and mothers with infants under one year.
