SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY (SDDA) HOLDS WORKS SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING

The SDDA has on Monday 20th March, 2023 held its first Sub- Committee meeting for the year 2023 at the Assembly Hall.

The Local Governance Act 462 mandates the Works Sub-Committee to take a comprehensive look at the infrastructure, water, roads, electricity, sanitation etc needs and problems of the district; draw a proposals and submits the programmes to the Executive Committee for harmonization and action.

At the meeting the convener of Works Sub-Committee Hon. Eric Senanya welcomed all members to the meeting. It was followed by highlights of presentation of the 2022 Annual Progress Report by the Secretary to the Committee Mr. Samuel Dompre the District Works Engineer.

It was presented that ;

  • Ghana Water Company (GWC)

GWC cover the following township in the the District; Todome, Adzokoe, Tsibu, Wudome, Dzogbati, Blengo, Afeviofe, Tsame, Avetile, Dzakei, Agbateh, Bethel, Kpeve and its environs

Based on information received from GWC in the year 2022 , 235 applications were received in the year 2022 out of which 190 were processed and water connected accordingly. Currently 45 applications are waiting service connection due to improper documentation and information from the applicants

 

ELECTRICITY COVERAGE

Based on information received from ECG Kpeve District office, 404 applications were received in the year 2022 and 379 were served and 25 are in documentation stage

STREET LIGHT

The District received 445 street lights from the VRCC office of which 398 were installed within the District and currently 47 are  in-stock.

Feeder Road Unit – 15km stretch of feeder roads that was planned and budgeted for the year 2022 has been 100% successfully completed.

Government Intervention – The Eastern Corridor road which is under construction from Asikuma to Kpeve is halfway asphalted and is 50% completed

 

The Agenda 111 currently being rolled out nationwide has South Dayi District as one of the beneficiary districts. For now as at the end of 30th Dec, 2022, a sixty (60) bed capacity is currently  under construction. The facility is located at Kpeve and is about  30%, completed .  

  • CODA – The coastal Development Authority (CODA) in partnership with the office of the District Chief Executive had initiated water provision project in the following communities with Mechanized Boreholes; these are: Mechanized Borehole,, Abui, Kpalime Dugah,Tongor Agordeke, Kpogbonikope, Kpeve E.P, Sanga, Peki senior high technical school,

Currently, 39 boreholes have been constructed in 18 communities.

Funding Source and Disbursements.

  1. DACF – 2,109,922.98 was budgeted for the year under infrastructure.
  2. DACF-RFG-1,118,222.10 was budgeted for the year which include payment of retention
  3. GoG Funded Projects

 

The meeting ended successfully with all matters and presentations discussed.
