INAUGURATION OF DISTRICT COMMITTEE OF THE GHANA AIDS COMMISSION SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY
The program started exactly 10:00 am with an inevotary talk from the focal person for the South Dayi District Aids Committee – Ms Emma Adom on the aim of the meeting after which an opening prayer was said by the clergy of the Methodist church , Rev Frank Adjei.
Then followed by the introduction of dignitaries and sundry who made time to grace the program.
Right after that, a succinct speech was delived by the honourable District Chief Executive (DCE), Ernest Kodjo Mallet. He also retreated , the program was going to be a terse one. He however used the opportunity to state the current statistics in HIV/AIDS in the SDDA which stands at 46% for which calls for the urgency of setting up the committee and to mitigate the spread, and other related issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and people living with them. He ended his speech by urging the committee members to adopt a programmatic approach to their issue, which a saw a clap for the house.

Mrs Rose Kpesese calmly took the address on behalf of the president which highlighted. The concerns of the upsurge in the HIV/AIDS spread and the government commitment to helping fight the cankerworm. There was also demystification and clarifications on the tenefs, conducts, tenure and the size of the committee . She ended the speech by urging all to take cognisance and familiarize themselves the various information to help them function properly in their line of duty.
Mrs Miranda Ntumi from the Peki District Court was introduced to help in the swearing of the oath of secrecy of the nine member committee which went smoothly and gracefully after which a group picture was taken of all members and the committee.
The program came to an end with a closing remarks from the Hon. DCE where he urged the members to be proactive and creative in helping reduce the spread and also in education of the public and a closing prayer was said by the Imam of the area – Zacharia Salifu.
