FREE NHIS REGISTRATION FOR NEEDY EMBARKED IN SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT

The South Dayi District Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, in partnership with the Nationa Health Insurance Service (NHIS) office at Kpeve, has launched a district-wide free NHIS registration of cards for indigenes. The exercise lasted three weeks, from June 12th to June 30th, 2023.

The major goal of the exercise was to identify the impoverished and vulnerable members of society, register, renew, and replace their lost cards, and enrolled them on to the scheme.

Tsokpokope, Wugbadzi, Methodist Village, Ayensu, Abui, Tsita, Adzebui, Agordeke, Fantekope, Atoklokpo, and Kpongbonikope were among the 14 communities in the South Dayi District that benefited.

The total number of people registered was 1,269, with 604 men and 665 women.

NHIS official Mr. Richard Kporha reminded indigenous peoples in the areas to always register, renew, and replace their cards as needed, and that they should not wait until they become ill before doing so.

He also encouraged beneficiaries to report any illicit payments to their office or call their office line on 0249 55 09 58.

Miss Charity Dziworshie, a Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, assisted in the activity by assisting the elderly and physically challenged people in registering, renewing, and replacing their NHIS cards.

The program was a success since a large number of indigenous people showed up to have their cards registered, renewed, and replaced.
