41 Intermediate Trainees in You-Start Program undergoes Training in South Day District

The second phase of the Youth Start program (Intermediate Level) in the South Dayi District will begin a ten-day training program on Monday, July 3rd, 2023, to enhance their abilities in developing and maintaining their businesses.

Beneficiaries from the 133 participants trained at the Basic level in the district were chosen to become one of the 41 intermediate trainees.

The participants were commended for qualifying to this stage by Mr. Prince Anku, the Head of the Business Advisory Center at South Dayi District, speaking to the Trainees during the inaugural ceremony. In order for them to be able to build and maintain their enterprises after the training session, he urged participants to use the program effectively.

Mr. Stephen Nartey, the workshop facilitator, guided participants through the following topics: i. Components of efficient planning; ii. The components of efficient planning; iii. Level of Management and their function; iv. Element of effective planning; v. Characteristics/Types of Leaders; vi. Enterprise Decision Making Process; vii. Control as a Function; and, finally, exploring business opportunities.

He emphasized that behaviour control must be in accordance with the organizationally established goals and objectives when discussing behaviour control as a management function.

According to Mr. Patrick Tsawoo, a consultant from Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), a consulting company for the You-Start program disclosed the house that 30% of participants would advance from the Basic level to the Intermediate stage, 50% would progress to the advanced stage, and 10% would advance to the Mentorship stage upon which start-up kit will be awarded.

According to him, the government cannot create jobs for every Ghanaian on its own. For this reason, the World Bank is giving the government grants to help young people develop their entrepreneurial talents and at the same time reduce unemployment in Ghana as a whole.

The start-up kit and the grant are both fantastic, but the training is the main goal. “I implore everyone in this setting to put what they learned in the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels into practice in order to alter their business plans and improve their quality of life. Since neither money nor a start-up kit are necessary to change your business ideas, the training is sufficient” he continued.
