Robotic Stars in South Dayi District wins the 2023 African Robotic

A delegation from South Dayi Education Directorate led by the District Education Director Mr. Victor Kove, The District education Planning Officer Mr. Gadafi Baako, Mrs Peace Osei the Human Resource Manageress,   Mr. Gershon Atsu Agbi, the PRO of Education Directorate and Stephen Koranteng Center Manager for Yamoranza Model Lab 6 at Peki Avetile paid a working visit to the District Chief Executive on the 1st of March 2023 at 10:00am  and presented six (6)  students in the robotic club who participated and emerged as winners of the National Robotic Competition at the National Capital, Accra.

The competition which targeted the first and second cycle school education affords participants the opportunity to programme, authorize and control virtual robots.

The competition organized by the helping Africa Foundation, friends of Yamoranza and its Technology partners Tech Aide and Implementors.

This year’s competition featured 12 region out of the 16 region in Ghana. Also participated was a student group from the Gambia from the first and second cycle schools in public and private institutions.

The robotic stars developed five projects, namely Water Prepared System, Automatic Irrigation System, Automated Water Level Detector, Rain Water Detector, Smart Dustbin, Water prepaid.

The team was adjudged the best in the Best GES Representative Award and the Most Innovative Project Award.

The District Chief Executive of South Dayi District, Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa who received the delegation in his office said “this feat will be remembered for a long time” and he promised to support the team  with the view to ensuring that the goals of the team are realized to the fullest especially the water prepaid and the irrigation project which will go along way to support Ghana Water Company and peasant farmers in the district.

The competition equips students with knowledge in problem solving, critical thinking and the use of virtual platform which is a tool for learning in the 21st Century.
