*SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ENGAGES FULANI HERDMEN*

Today ,the District Security Committee (DISEC) of the SDDA on Thursday 30th March 2023 met cattle owners and Fulani herds men in the district at the District Assembly Hall.

The main purpose of conveying the meeting was to find a long lasting solution to indiscriminate grazing and unlawful entry of cattles, sheep’s and goats into people’s farms.

The meeting was chaired by the Kpeve Police Commander DCOP Harry Salomey.He said the Fulani Herdmen had become part of the Community in which they undertook their activities and it was important to protect property of indegenes as well as protecting their herds to avoid any conflict in the district.

The committee concluded that that the herds men should;

* Form association by registering and submitting their details to the DISEC committee before 27th April 2023.

*Identify their animals through piersing or using hot iron with initials written on their bodies through lasing with the Dist. Vetenary Officer.

The DCD of SDDA John Kennedy Cobbah adviced the Fulani Herdmen not to take the law into their own hands rather should use the appropriate agencies to address their issues.

Mr. Iddrisu Ali, The leader of the Fulani Herdmen in the district thanked the committee for taking time to listen to their grievances. He pleased with the Police service to exercise Justice equally to both Fulani Herdmen and citizens when it comes to dispersing of Justice.

The meeting ended successfully with all questions and all matters addressed.
