SOUTH DAYI DISTRICT HEALTH DIRECTORATE ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS ON COVID-19 VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

As part of the countrywide effort to reach a 70% objective for herd immunity against COVID-19 disease. The South Dayi District (SDD) Health Directorate conducted a stakeholders meeting to explore successful public education tactics for the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The gathering also aimed to increase risk community involvement on the pandemic through stakeholders in positions of power to influence behavior and enforce the COVID-19 vaccination.

Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa (DCE, SDD), Mr. Jonas Timbire Kolog, District Coordinating Director (SDDA) Mr. John Kennedy Cobbah, District Director of Education Mr. Victor Kovie, Chiefs, Traditional rulers, Assembly Members, the Clergy, Islamic Communities, Information Services Department, Staff from the South Dayi District Assembly, Health workers attended the meeting.

 

Hon. Godwin K. Dadzawa welcomed all stakeholders and thanked them for attending the meeting in his speech. He then urged them to be Ambassadors by bringing the COVID-19 campaign to their community because they are the people’s representatives at the District level. He emphasizes that the percentage of persons in South Dayi District who have been vaccinated falls short of the national aim of 70%. “You, the Ambassadors, play a critical role in helping us achieve 90% in the region.”

 

Miss Faustina Doosogla updated the house on COVID-19 in the District/Region as follows in her presentation: The target population for vaccination was 34,781.

18,723 (53.2%) received one dosage.

Fully vaccinated – 15,059 (43.9%)

16,058 in the unvaccinated group

“According to the data, the percentage of people in the district who have been fully vaccinated falls below the national target.” She encourages stakeholders to lead the effort to address the issues associated with COVID -19 vaccination, such as misinterpretation, misinformation, disinformation, low risk perception, and so on.

 Mr. Jonas Timbire Kolog, District Director of Health, thanked all stakeholders for attending the meeting. “Health is a shared responsibility, and I am extremely pleased with the steps Honourable members have taken to combat COVID 19 over the years,” he continued.  He invited all stakeholders to support the vaccination campaign, which would take place in their respective communities from July 19th to 20th, 2023, in order to achieve more than 70% of the national target. 

There were questions about COVID 19 and concerns were also addressed.
