South Dayi District Assembly (SDDA) Holds Local Economic Development (LED) & Micro & Small Entrepreneurs (MSE) Sub-committee Meeting

 
On Tue. 19th Sept 2023, LED and MSE sub-committee of the SDDA held a meeting at the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) to discuss issues relating economic development and bridge connection between businesses and government authorities.
The co-opted Chairman of the day for LED and MSE sub-committee, Hon. Timothy Kotope welcomed members to the meeting and thanked them for taking time off their busy schedules to make it to the meeting.
He took members through minutes of the previous meeting of which discussion, deliberations and corrections were effected.
The secretary to the committee Mr. Prince F.K. Anku presented the progress report of all the projects that was carried out in SDD as at October 2023 as follows;
i. Skills Training (Ghana Jobs and Skills Youstart Training programme)
ii. Strengthen and grow MSEs in the district.
iii. Facilitate the Formalization/Certification of businesses
iv. Strengthen MSE Support Institutions
v. Access to Finance
He also presented the BAC Annual Action Plan Budget for 2024 to the house for deliberations and consideration.
The committee also discussed issues on how to rekindle or revive the formation and strengthening the existing SME Associations such as Garages, Metal Fabricators, Dressmakers, Beauticians, Barbers, Wood Workers, Bakers and other essential service providers in the district to support member Association in terms of need.
Furthermore, the Secretary urged the stakeholder especially Agric Department, Social Welfare & Community Development and NGOs to collaborate with BAC in delivering Skills training to the Youth and SME Enterprises in the district.
The committee further referred the issue of posting of Cooperative Officer to the district to EXECO for consideration so as to revive the ailing business groups in the district.
Mr. Enoch Dadzra, the Dist. Agric Dir. informed the house on the Youth in Agric program that was launched by the govt to motivate youth between the ages of 18 to 40 years who are interested in agric sector to contact him on 0243-220302 for registration.
The chairman, in his closing remarks, expressed his gratitude to all members and staff for attending the meeting and accepting the 2024 budget and mentioned that all recommendations made by members would be carried on to the Executive Committee for further approval at the General Assembly.
