AGRIC DEPT AND MAYINGOR FARMERS ASSOCIATION HAVE CONDUCTED AN EXPERIMENT ON 7 VARIETIES OF MAIZE WITH 3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF FERTILIZERS

In order to decide which fertilizer will be used most effectively in the district, the Mayingor farmers organization and the Agric Department of South Dayi District have tested 7 varieties of maize with 3 different types of fertilizers today, May 16, 2023 at Kpeve Agric Station field.

The growers used Eduanepa and Organic Aid Liquid Fertilizers, two liquid fertilizers.

The exercise’s major goal is to boost the district’s maize production by encouraging farmers to use the correct seed variety and fertilizer on their farms.

The output of maize for the year 2022 totaled 5763 metric tons, or 53.28% more than the production for the year 2021, which was 5127 metric tons, or 50.3% more.

Mr. Mattew Abotsi (Head of Crops Research, Agric Dept., SDD) is confident that production would rise in 2023 as well.

“Thanks to M&B seed for supplying us with 5 varieties of seeds and Mr. Francis Gankui (Agric Station Officer) for your good collaboration” he added
