***Congratulation to Hon. Akude Seyram Kafui, District Overall Best Farmer for 2024.**

The Department of Agriculture under the South Dayi District Assembly on Friday, 8th November, 2024 organized a district level Farmers Day Celebration at Sanga D/A Basic School Park in the South Dayi District.
This 40th Farmers’ Day Celebration was under the theme “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable food Security”.
The District Director for Agriculture, Mr. Nusianu W. Avedzidah welcomed everyone to the programme. He thanked all farmers for their hard work and encouraged them to dedicate themselves to good agricultural practices as the assembly aims to keep working on delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security.
The Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa(DCE) urged farmers within the District to venture into value addition to increase revenue. He further stated that the District has benefitted from several programs initiated by the Government under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Some of the programs include; Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) Phase 1 & 2, Planting for Export and Rural Development, and free fertilizer initiative.
Torgbe Ayim Mordey VI, Adontehene of Peki Traditional Area who chaired the occasion also advised farmers to take advantage of the program and initiatives by the Government and the Assembly to add value to their produce to increase revenue.
The DCE together with his dignitaries conferred the District Overall Best Farmer Award on Hon. Akude Seyram Kafui, from Peki Avetile for his dedication and hardwork over the years. . He was awarded a Tricycle, Knapsack sprayers, wellington boots, cutlass, certificate and other farming equipment.
Mr. Owusu Christmas Jerry (District Best Crop Farmer), Mr. Tay Stephen (District Best Livestock Farmer), Mr. Patrick Awayiwu (District Best Youth farmer) , Mr. Kudaya Richmond ( District Best Agric Worker), Mr. Samey Stephen (Best Physically Challenged Farmer) and District Best Female Farmer Vivian Agbemabia Addy were also awardees during the occasion.
In all, 7 farmers were awarded with certificates, flat screen, , knapsack sprayers, wellington boots and cutlasses under various categories.
