DCE MEETS THE POLICE AND BEREAVED FAMILY

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa on  Friday 18th February, 2022  visited  Peki Police Station to sympathize with  them due to the motor accident which claimed the lives of two Police Officers.

The DCE was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Nathaniel Adzotor, Togbe Ayim Morde V, Kpeve District Police Commander, DSP. Harry Selormey,  Director of Education, Mr. Victor Kwaku Kovey, The District Social Development Director, Rev. Mrs. Emma Adom, Rep of the District Information Officer, Mr. Julius Afflu, Avetile East Assembly member, Hon. John Bobi, NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Freeman Ameyibor and the Rep of NDC Party, Mr. Prosper Dodo.

The DCE, Hon. Godwin Dadzawa and his entourage first met the  family of the deceased officer, Evans Quansah, who happened to be present upon DCE’s arrival. The DCE consoled the deceased family and pledged his support and assistance concerning all that they need for a befitting burial.

Next was a brief meeting of the DCE, Hon. Godwin  Dadzawa and his entourage with the Police Officers at the Station. The Police Officers present were Peki  District Commander, DSP/Mr Nii Charles Otoo Quaye, In- charge Peki District Admin&Accident Unit, C/Inspr. Domaka Sydney, Peki Station Officer, Pw/C/Inspr.  Victoria Lumor, Kpalime- Duga Station Officer, C/Inspr. Albert Dzotofe and Prosecutor&Station CID,D/Inspr. Emmanuel K. Awuah.

The Peki District Commander, DSP/Mr Nii Charles Otoo Quaye said the sad event took place last Sunday and  it was not easy for them when they heard the news and that it was unbearable how as the entire station was engulfed in grief. He revealed that  the deceased officers, Cpl. Evans Quansah aged 35 and Const. Richard Dadzie aged 29 left the station and about 7 to 8 mins they were pronounced dead, much to the amazement of the entire District Command.

DSP/Mr Nii Charles Otoo Quaye said the deceased Officers were transported to Peki Government Hospital Morgue before the National Delegates of Police came to transfer them to Accra Police Morgue  for preservation.

He further said the deceased Officers,  Cpl. Evans Quansah comes from Asamankese whilst Const. Richard Dadzie comes from Kumasi so  they are liaising with the bereaved families to offer them the necessary support and therefore promised to inform the Assembly in case of any further information regarding the funeral arrangements.

The In- charge of the Peki District Admin&Accident Unit, C/Inspr. Domaka Sydney said the case is still under investigation but preliminary evidence has shown that the driver was over speeding when the tyre got burst causing it to veer into the opposite lane and crushed with the motor bike on which the two deceased Police Officers were riding. He said the sad event took place on Sunday 13th February, 2022 at 8:15 am between Peki-Ayensu and Pokuase on the Asikuma-Kpeve Highway.

Togbe Ayim Morde V, in his speech expressed his deep sorrow and sadness of the incident. Togbe Ayim said he is sorry the unfortunate thing has happened. Togbe Ayim said he is sorry the unfortunate thing has happened. Togbe Ayim said he was there to sympathize with them and therefore encouraged  them to take heart and move on with  their duties. Togbe Ayim finally acknowledged the hard work of the Police in the District and  thanked God for their lives.

The DCE, Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa consoled the Police Officers present. He said they should take heart and that he is ready to offer support and assistance for all they need. He petitioned the Officers to keep him updated with burial and funeral arrangements so that the Assembly can participate in  biding the deceased Officers farewell.

The Peki District Commander, DSP/Mr Nii Charles Otoo Quaye in his words of appreciation  thanked the delegation and expressed profound gratitude to Togbe Ayim Mordey and DCE for their love and support for the Police and finally thanked everyone for coming.
