Report on one day in-service training workshop for Environmental Health staff held at South Dayi District Assembly Hall, Kpeve

As part of building the capacity of Environmental Health Officers of the South Dayi District Assembly, a one day in-service training workshop was organized on Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

The workshop was attended by all Environmental Health Assistants, Environmental Health officers and Environmental Health Assistant trainees from School of Hygiene, Ho.

Mr. Moses C.K Awude, the District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO) of SDDA, welcomed participants to the workshop. Mr. Awude pointed out that the main objectives of organizing this one day in-service training was to equip the environmental health officers on their core mandate and to write a comprehensive report on each of the activity they perform in their respective communities assigned to them.

Mr. Mawusi Agordzo Chief Environmental Health Assistant, assisted the DEHO to take the participants through the duties of the environmental health officers, reporting on the activities performed in their catchment areas for submission to the District office.

The workshop was graced with dignitaries from, Ho Technical University (HTU). Dr. Maxwell Boakye from Dept. of Environmental Science (Building Technology) and Dr. Adams Selasi Head of Faculty Environmental Science and technology took turns to encourage participants to do further studies to align themselves with the innovative strategies in identifying most environmental health challenges and  scientific resolution of them.

He also stressed that HTU’s  door  is always opened and ready to partner with South Dayi District Assembly in Research Findings and also to give  technological innovative ways of identifying common diseases  in our communities and prescribe solutions.

In conclusion the participants promised to implement what they have learnt and be efficient  in their work. The training was organized successfully with all questions answered.
