SDDA HOLDS JOINT DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING
In fulfilment of the Local Government Act 936 section 85, the Development Planning Sub-Committee of South Dayi District Assembly held its meeting on 25th October 2023 at the District Assembly Hall to discuss the issues affecting the district.
The Chairman for the Development Planning Sub Committee Hon. Timothy Kotope welcomed all members of the sub-committee to the meeting. He then took member through of the previous meeting which was accepted as a working document for the sub-committee after further corrections, deliberations and discussions.
The Secretary for Development and Planning sub-committee Mr. Sylvanus Tettey presented the Draft for Annual Action Plan for 2024 which covered;
- Economic Development- Public education on; zoonotic diseases and mass rabbies, 12 steps maize production, climate smart agriculture, introduce coping strategies for women farmers in the district.
- Education – Sensitisation on importance of Education for girl child, Support District Level Inter Circuit Sports, Support for preparation of ADEOP, ADPR and staff and headmasters on EMIS Questionaire
iii. Health – Support to 3 health facilities with bed infrastructure, organise training on nutrition, Control on HIV/AIDS, organise quarterly Public Health Emergency
- Social Services – Engage communities on Child labor, Training Social services providers on the ISSOP, Support children in conflict with the law, rescue abandoned or missing children
- Trade and Industrial Devpt- stakeholders engagement forum with MSE, equip youth with technical and vocational skills, facilitate and support micro, small and medium scale enterprise, conduct youth empowerment programme on entrepreneurship and records keeping, facilitate the payment of LEAP, Support people of PWD with assistive devices.
- Infrastructure – Reshaping of 15km roads District Wide and construction of culverts on selected roads in the district, Complete Drilling and Construction of 5 No. Mechanised Boreholes and organize WATSAN for newly constructed Boreholes, Renovation of 6-unit classroom block at Agbateh, Construction of 4No Teachers Quarters at Peki Dzake, Construction of 1no 2-Unit KG block at Agordeke
The sub-committee also discussed issues concerning ex-gratia for Assembly Members, Youth in Agric, Local plans, development controls , flooding at Dzemini and completing of abandoned projects in the district. He mentioned that 2024 AAP will be based on the status of 2023year AAP due to that the assembly must put in more efforts to raise more revenue to be able to complete most of the abandoned projects.
The chairman, in his closing remarks expressed his gratitude to all members and staff for attending the meeting and mentioned that all recommendations made by members would be carried on to the Executive Committee for further approval at the General Assembly.
