SDDA HOLDS THE FIRST ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING

On Tuesday, June 10th, the first ordinary General Assembly meeting was convened at the South Dayi District Assembly (SDDA) Conference Hall, Kpeve. The meeting was attended by key figures including the Presiding Member (PM) Hon. Wellington Olukpedzu, the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE) Courage Kwame Kokroko, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) Mr. John Kennedy Cobbah, all 32 Honourable Assembly Members, and the Heads of various Department/Units. The gathering focused on several crucial agenda items, which were thoroughly discussed and deliberated upon.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Hon. (PM) Wellington Olukpedzu, In his address, he set the tone for the discussions, emphasizing the importance of the day’s agenda and encouraging all members to engage actively and thoughtfully in the proceedings.

Following the opening remarks, the Assembly proceeded with the reading and consideration of the minutes from the previous meeting. The minutes were reviewed in detail, allowing members to reflect on the decisions and actions previously taken.

The meeting then moved on to the laying and consideration of the Executive Committee’s report. This report, which encapsulates the committee’s recent activities, recommendations, and decisions, was presented for the Assembly’s review. Members engaged in a thorough examination of the report, discussing its implications and providing their insights on the way forward.

Subsequently, the Assembly considered the Public Relations and Complaints Committee report. This committee plays a vital role in addressing public concerns and ensuring transparency within the Assembly’s operations.. The committee, under the leadership of the Presiding Member  is to embark on District tour to sensitize our citizens on the existence and functions of the Public Relation and Complaints Committee (PRCC).

The DCE for SDD, Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko delivered his sessional address to the house in accordance with Section 28 (2)(a) of the Local Govt. Act 2016 (Act 936). He expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani

 

 Mahama for appointing him as DCE, Hon. Rockson Nelson Defeamekpor (MP) and to all the Hon. Assembly members for successfully electing him as a DCE. Hon. Kokroko centred his sessional address on road, infrastructural development, agenda 111 project,  electricity coverage, provision of potable water especially to communities such as Tongor, Tsanakpe, Kaira, Ahor , sanitation, security, financial performance and the 24 hour economy.

The meeting also included the laying and consideration of sub-structure reports. These reports, which are submitted by various sub-committees or units within the Assembly, outline the specific issues and developments within their respective areas of responsibility. The Assembly members reviewed these reports, offering feedback and recommendations to guide future actions.

In the final segment of the meeting, the Assembly opened the floor for questions, motions, and resolutions. This session allowed members to raise any pressing issues, propose new motions for the Assembly’s consideration, and pass resolutions on matters of importance. The exchange of ideas during this session was instrumental in shaping the Assembly’s direction and ensuring that all voices were heard.

The General Assembly meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the needs of the community and working collaboratively towards sustainable development.
