South Dayi District Assembly commemorates Tree For Life Day
In South Dayi District (SDD), Kpeve, the “Tree for life” planting exercise has been held at forecourt of the Assembly. The 2025 slogan for Tree for Life Ghana is “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow”.
During a brief open ceremony at the assembly’s forecout, Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko, the DCE for South Dayi District, stated that the tree planting exercise is in line with the president’s vision and goals, which include distributing seven million ornamental and food crop seedlings for planting by the public, private sector, and various government agencies.
“Tree for life” is an important exercise that requires the support of citizenry, institutions and bodies, as it borders on our very existence, as the saying goes ‘when the last tree dies, the last man dies,’” he said.
Hon. Kokroko added that, some of the seedlings have been given to the heads of institutional departments, clergy, traditional leaders, and assembly members for internal distribution. He also urged all stakeholders involved to make a concerted effort to raise and mature the trees.
Participants in the ceremony were representatives of the South Dayi District Assembly, Agric
Department, the SDD Education Directorate, the SDD Health Directorate, Security agencies, NADMO, Assembly members, Traditional leaders, Clergy and students.
A total of two thousand new tree species were sent to different communities for planting.
