YOUSTART,2023 PROGRAMME LAUCHED
As part of efforts to addresss the high Youth unemployment rate in Ghana. The World Bank is providing financial and Technical support to the Government of Ghana. The project forms part of the ambitious entrepreneurial programme in the year 2022 budget known as YOUSTART
The objectives of this programme is to create 1 million jobs for the youth in the next 3 years (202-2025)
This project seeks to support young people who have innovative business ideas and successful businesses so they can grow them and provide employment for the economy.
What to expect from the project?
1. Application/Registration
Registration and application for the project is targeted at Ghanaians from the ages of 18 to 40 years with at least BECE qualification and school dropouts who are willing to start a business.
School dropouts already in a business would be considered for this project as well.
Special attention would be given to women and Persons with Disabilities (PWD)
2. Entrepreneurship Training
A district based and non-residential Entrepreneurship Training would be conducted at 3 levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced using an experiential participatory approach conducive for adult learning
3. Coaching and Mentoring
The Coaching and Mentoring support would be provided to beneficiaries who progress to the advance level
4. Competitive Start-up Grants
5,000 selected youth (individual or self-formed groups) who successfully undergo training up to the intermediate and advance levels would be eligible for Business Startup Grants.
