DCE of South Dayi District takes first COVID-19 jab.

South Dayi District received a consigment of 440 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca, for the vaccination of front line health staff on the 26th of March 2021. The DCE, Hon Ernest Mallet took the first dose to officially launch the vaccination program in the District and to assure every body of the safety of the vaccine.

The DCE urged all health staff to take the vaccine to ensure that they are protected before embarking on the mass vaccination when the next consignment for the District is delivered. Dr. Makafui Dzakpasu, the Medical Superintendent of the Peki Government Hospital also received his jab to encourage the medical staff to do same.

This was followed immediately by Ms. Patience Nunoo, the District Health Director and Mr. Emmanuel Bonsu, the District Disease Control officer.

Addressing the media after the vaccination, Hon Ernest Mallet Kwadwo  said the vaccine was safe and encourage all health workers and city dwellers to take an active interest in the exercise and get vaccinated.

He appealed to all those who will be vaccinated to be ambassadors by educating and encouraging others in their communities to get vaccinated and also urged city dwellers to continue to adhere to the COVID -19 protocols.

The vaccination of other health staff in the District has since been going on.
